Probability:
-
The chance that an event will happen on its own, without any effort
on your part.
-
If your plan relies on the sun rising tomorrow, move the Probability
slider all the way to the right, which means it has 100% chance of
happening on its own.
-
If your plan relies on stepping on to your front porch, which can't
happen unless you do it, move the Probabiliy slider all the way to
the left, which means it has a 0% chance of happening on its own.
Control:
-
The level of control you have over the event taking place.
-
If your plan relies on the sun rising tomorrow, move the
Control slider all the way to the left, which means you have
absolutely no control over it.
-
If your plan relies on you stepping on to your front porch, move the
Control slider all the way to the right, which means you have
absolute control over whether that happens or not.
-
An example of something you have partial control over is winning a
competition like a boxing match. You have to act to win, so the
Probability is zero, but the other competitor is going to try to
stop you from achieving your goal. If you are evenly matched, you
might move the Control slider to the center.
